John Swisher

Information from Carol Westfall ECWestfall@webtv.net

He married Anna Maria Hawk d/o John and Christina Hawk.  This documented
in deeds between John Swisher and John Hawk: 4:22, 4:120.   A letter
from John's and Maria's grandson Jacob Swisher died 1/11/1905 says he
remembered his grandfather John & his brothers Valentine and Nicholas
speak of their home near Mannheim Germany.  John arrived on the Ship
Fane in Philadelphia on 10/17/1749.
His family intermarried with Johannes Jacob Klein who was also on the
ship Fane.

Johannes Schweitzer b. 1730 arrived in America on the ship "Fane" in 1749.  He married Anna Maria Warner

Son: Jacob Swisher
           Jacob's son:  Daniel b. 2nd Catharine Fauver
                          son:  Henry m. Julia Ann Daughtery

Daniel's grandson is Hiram H. Swisher and was in the Battle of San Jacinto along with James and Milton Swisher who were signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence.  James was a friend of Sam Houston and is standing near Houston in Hubbel's painting, "The Surrender of Santa Anna".     Swisher County is the bounty given to James for his part in the Texas Revolution.

the Abraham Switzer place and Elizabeth S. Rimel is to have that part of it next to David S. Hunter Junior and John T. Hunter is to have that part next to Jacob Switzer's land I give and bequeath unto my son David S. Hunter that porttion of my land which I have sold unto him and he never paid it being 114 acres which I value at 32 1/2 dollars per acre.

John T Hunters land line commencing on the ridge to the line of Abraham Switzer land.
 
First having been duly sworn we went upon the Hunter's land named in said order as the Bryan or home tract, and examined it carefully and divided it into two parcels by a line beginning on the ridge in the line of the Jonathan Landes lands and ----- in the line of the Abraham Switzer lands.
